As the story (allegedly) goes, David Kaczynski's lawyer reached out to the FBI and told them they knew who the unibomber was and wanted to discuss numbers, any reward was to be shielded from the IRS, and guarantee of no prosecution of harboring or other crimes the FBI could cook up against David. The FBI has zero on Kaczynski and no leads. The irony is the FBI fought for months on releasing the "manifesto" while two more killings happened, not that the FBI really gives a shit about people being killed.
