The reporter says she shot him to make him stop talking.

But when you get further into the article she says, "I shot him because he hit me." And she looks like she's been slapped around in the booking photo.

I mean she probably shot him in self defense but he was still alive so she shot him again.

They probably asked her why she shot him after he was down and she probably said it was to "make him stop talking".
