Parents absorbed by work, kids raised by television, music/pop culture industry, and public school system. Women are for the most part children for most of their life (of course not always but due to the current state of no accountability for women we see this more and more). This is the reason mother's should stay home to raise children, so the child will love and respect their mother enough not to lie like this.
