5 to 7am I walk up to the orientation/safety trailer with my gear slung over my shoulder and I ask the dude there outside with the radio for orientation. He's got a mask on. Tells me to put mine on to which I say, not outside. SIX FEET AWAY he says, mask on. Not outside, I repeat. I'm not spitting on you. WHEN YOU'RE SIX FEET AWAY PUT YOUR MASK ON he yells. Why are you getting mad? I ask. I think he mumbled not mad, said something else I can't recall, and stormed off. There's bunch of people there, all masked of course. I'm the only one and Everyone's looking at me. Meh. He comes back and we all go in for orientation. lol.

I'm up on the lift and he walks by, scans me. I'll be there for two weeks.

These beings. They think they're saving the rainforest by chaining themselves to trees. They literally can't think beyond themselves. One thing I've learned is; don't pick on stupid. To be fair- this particular guy might not believe in this shit. A lot of people have been forced to enforce nonsense covid mandates under threat of losing their jobs.

Being a safety officer is a cushy job. Like 3/4 of their job is just "justify my job", and the other 1/4 is enforcing obvious rules and subjecting people who actually work to stupid presentations about why it's not good to put your hand into moving machinery. But the coof gave these retards a whoooole lot more shit to do- it justifies their job for them (probably justifies hiring a few more, just to be extra super safe) but it now makes them somewhat responsible for anything that happens coof-related.

So if the guy is lax on mask wearing, even though corporate told him "masks always, period", and then suddenly one day one of his crew guys ends up testing positive and they have to shut down the operation to get everyone tested... he's the fall guy. "It was your responsibility to keep everyone safe from the coof, and you didn't make them wear masks. This is your fault that we are losing hundreds of thousands of dollars, safety-fag!"

Everything about covid mandates seems engineered subtly to somehow pit citizens vs. citizens on personal, romantic, and professional levels...

But I think there's probably more to this.... the safety officer might not be a crazed, hysterical asshole. He might just be under an absurd amount of pressure, being forced to draft up and enforce all of these ridiculous mandates.

If he allows you to wander around outside without a mask on a job site, and then 3 days later- oh no, a guy who you never met who was working the other side of the site 100 yards away has a little fever when he gets to work! And then, OH NO HE TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID!! Shut the site down! Everyone gets tested, NOW!! ....Who can we blame this on?

Eyes would fall directly onto the safety guy. "Now we can't work for several days while we await test results, all because you didn't do your job and make sure the new guy and everyone else was wearing their masks!" Imagine being that guy- you'd be telling people to put their masks on, too.

I could be wrong about your particular instance, but I know for sure that there are a lot of people in "safety" positions (or other general management positions) who believe all of the mandates are fucking retarded, but some kike in a suit at corporate headquarters sent an email saying "Follow the CDC guidelines". The company doesn't want to get sued by someone who tests positive for covid after working with/for the company- the company wants to be able to prove that they were following all regulations.

However, "safety" people use this to their advantage in order to justify their fucking jobs. They're only slightly less repugnant than human Resources hags.

I think you've hit the nail on the head, as to why this shit keeps dragging on.. and on.. and on..

Nobody wants to be "that guy," who made the decision to lighten up, and have someone cough a couple of times on their watch. Those in charge are too afraid to make the tough decisions and own them.

So, it never ends. They'll be trying to force us to wear masks indefinitely, just like Fauci is telling them to do.

And that's why the position of "safety officer" exists- to be the fall guy and to act as "proof" that the company cares about safety and takes safety measures seriously- they take it so seriously, they hire a guy for $50k per year just to handle safety shit! How could that not be super-safe?

But then when something bad inevitably happens, you have an easy fall guy or an easy solution: if you can't flat out blame the incident on the safety guy, then he gets to justify his job by writing up the incident and making a presentation about what happened, how it could have been avoided- y'know, spend like 60+ hours on finding as many different ways as possible to say "Do not leave tools laying around on the ground".
