I agree that is always a possibility but I like to picture it this way. A scenario where there are two groups. One group is turning over stones. All stones, big ones, little ones. Some of them reveal something valuable but most of them reveal nothing but worms. The other group does nothing. They just stand there and spectate with their arms crossed laughing at the people who find worms whilst ignoring the rare gems discovered. They tell you there are no gems.
