I went to my mechanic yesterday and they have a sign up that says since they cannot ask you about your medical status that if you aren't wearing a mask they will assume you have a medical reason not to wear one. The office staff weren't wearing masks but the shop manager was. >>there are no mask police They may not be police, but they are the health department and if one of your customers turns you in you can get a fine. I have no idea what legal difference the signage makes but it's worth trying. I think you would have a defense that it is illegal to ask. The bigger stores in town have signs that say you absolutely must wear a mask, no exceptions. Edit: This is not in NJ however.
