I can't tell you why, but my cough took months to go away once I recovered from the initial infection. My sister has worse long term medical issues which she seemed to aggravate by taking the vaccine.
When I talked to a medical professional about my cough, they told me I probably developed allergies from Covid, and the only recommendation I got was to take antihistamines which turned out to be completely ineffective.
Try using a expectorant.
Most people try using suppressants which is the wrong thing to do 95% of the time.
Yes, if I can't just get some rest and recover naturally, I'll gladly aggravate the symptoms to clear up the underlying condition; rather than aggravate the condition to suppress the symptoms.
NAC ( N-acetyl cysteine) is a good expectorant to try, if you can get it. There are also lots of other supplements and herbal treatments that can be beneficial, such as dandelion leaf tea. Another avenue to look into could be gut bacteria, this interacts very closely with your immune system and an imbalance in your gut bacteria can be the root cause of many ailments, Dr Sabine Hazan has done a lot of work on this, including for COVID, parkinsons, autism, etc. It will be interesting when eventually, maybe in another 30 years, Dr Wakefield will effectively be shown to be right about the gut health link to autism that got him fucking obliterated by big pharma decades ago. The rot goes so deep that there really doesn't seem to be an end to it.
I hope you and your sis continue to feel better. I wonder if it has to do with the damage done by the virus when you're actually ill with it. While labs are all within normal limits after the infection, your muscles and stuff are still repairing from infection. Hence, you feel worn out, exhausted and just unwell.
It was a very strange disease. I never felt so tired in all my life, but other than that and the cough it was pretty mild. The cough and the fatigue started clearing up immediately when I started taking antibiotics for a secondary infection, which indicates the virus itself wasn't the primary cause of the symptoms. Then when I ran out of antibiotics the cough came back and wouldn't go away. I never had any lingering medical issues like that from any other disease.
Like I said, I don't know the details of how it works. If you see trees slowly dying after you've put out a forest fire, you know the fire is the root cause even once all the flames have gone out.
