Go to any University in the US and look at the people in sitting in a high level STEM class. 50% will be Asian, Then go and look at the people in the Gender Studies class. Westerners have become entitled and lazy, fueled I think in part from a growing understanding of how rigged the system is. Immigrants and first generation natives don't pay $100,000+ for a bullshit degree. After graduation Immigrants and first generation natives tend to have a stronger work ethic, and are more motivated. They have more tolerance for putting in years of hard work to get to the higher level leadership positions. In order to find a non-diversity hire I need to weed through a pool of resumes that will be 40% Asian and 40% Indian H1Bs. The stereotypical 'White men' that have a decent degree by comparison be unmotivated and recalcitrant. If I am persistent and hold out for a qualified candidate that is the stereotypical 'White man' that I think has a good attitude and ethic etc., they will likely be a great/better worker in the long run... but only marginally so over a similar Asian candidate. Typically the prolonged search for a perfect candidate is not cost effective. It often makes more business sense to hire the Asian candidate... and the US legal system will penalize employers that do wait for the 'perfect' candidates. Diversity quotas are a thing.
