I don't think any of these whackos are compelled to take off their masks. They just want to force others to wear them. The symbolism of mask wearing is complex. I've been considering it. On the one hand, the masks serve as a kind of defensive shield for the timid and those with germ phobias. Masks are something they can hide behind. On the other hand, the are a symbol of group think and the herd mentality -- people want to wear them because they see others wearing them, and they want to blend in. On the gripping hand, the masks represent compliance and submission. Those who want nationalists and conservatives to submit to liberal fascist rule want to force the masks on nationalists and conservatives against our will. They want to dominate us.
