Possible. Omicron is not derived from a newer variant like Delta, maybe it took some time to create it, or it was created long ago. Maybe white hats have built this variant. It is also possible the creators of SARS-2 planned long ago to release Omicron in the right moment - the plandemic is over, food and energy crisis, or cyber attacks next.
