Refusing To Show ID to the Cops

when driving a car or any vehicle, yes you fucking do... its implied consent

a person on the street, no you dont.. unless the officer needs you in an investigation... all they need is full name and birthdate

Of course you must provide the licenses for being engaged in licensed activities when probable cause exists that you've violated laws associated with the licensed activity.

A person on the street, not engaged in a licensed activity, has NO obligation to provide any information unless he is under arrest for probable cause.

it pretty much comes down to the discretion of the officer.

has NO obligation to provide

yes, you have to identify yourself if under investigation (this is police job back to when they all started) . otherwise you are correct

Not sure in what state you live, but in Texas you must provide your name, address, and date of birth ONLY if you have been lawfully arrested.

See Texas Penal Code 38.02, Failure to Identify

https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/Docs/PE/htm/PE.38.htm

Sec. 38.02. FAILURE TO IDENTIFY. (a) A person commits an offense if he intentionally refuses to give his name, residence address, or date of birth to a peace officer who has lawfully arrested the person and requested the information.

Come to my state, where you can actually refuse to show an ID to the cops, they still look you up, and it takes longer. Most dont care though.
