well I shouldnt have left houses and home repair, but I made so much more and faster doing outdoor hardscape stuff. Actually lost a house shortly after 2008, not a loss but still lost it.
A friend's son is making a killing working on antique homes and new construction with antique style up the coast of Maine where the big money is. Apparently the old time carpentry/cabinet making skills are in short supply. All natural wood finish, fancy trims, built-ins, antique features many of today's homebuilders can't/don't want to do. Niche markets are nice if you can monopolize on them. Rich customers are much less cyclic than mainstream customers who are dependent upon interest rates.
