It's made from "waste steel". How to tell it's a bullshit nothingburger? They never disclose how MUCH waste steel it would take to replace concrete production. I bet there isn't enough "waste steel" to replace 0.1% of concrete production.
Waste steel is a manufacturing byproduct. There's lots of it. However, rust inside of concrete accelerates the decomposition of concrete. It says it's steel powder. What happens when all that steel oxidizes inside the concrete?
While I believe it's a stronger material I question is longevity.
Also, this waste steel is usually recycled like any other steel and tossed in during smelting. It's not like it's not used. It's openly bought on the market in bulk, by the ton.
cement manufacture will have to give way to greener alternatives
No.
Neat, worth a look. But god damn that site's "underlining" of links is annoying
Going to read this later. It seems like something like this comes out every few years but never goes anywhere.
The superiority of concrete may not be in its mechanical or chemical properties, but in that they are well understood and can be engineered. That will be the difficulty in this competition.
