Oh bluestone heats up for sure. There is actually a quarter inch on the sides and it’ll be slid forward a bit. Once I thermal the edge we’ll be a solid 3/8 around.

Ye ol’ BlackStone griddle. Love cooking bacon, eggs and hash browns on mine. That bacon aroma drives the neighbor’s dog crazy.

Built hundreds of masonry barbecues over the years with all kinds of tops, griddles, grills, warmers and burners. Generally figured for 1/8” max clearance each side. Don’t know of any that have ever cracked from the heat.
