Fuck Dewalt because they decided they were no longer going to support their older battery powered tools. Got a NiMH-based tool? You either buy the shitty converter device that isn't worth the plastic it's made from, or you buy Chinese knock-offs that may or may not work.
I've got a perfectly good drill and sawzall that takes the old packs, and they're worthless now.

I don't remember posting about that. It can be done, but you're going to need something to spark-weld new connection tabs on to the batteries with.
With the sheer amount of electronics stuff you post I would have thought that slapping together a working tac welder would be easy for you.
A quick glance it looks like a dual probe system using 200-400 watts.
