Head on over to s/fat people hate to find some hams to stress test that thing.
Well done. I hate the tread to rise on those stairs, but I see you’ve said it’s for an old man. Why did you abandon the old footings?
Balusters could be closer together, a little kid could fall through (I had to rebuild a huge deck railing because the inspector said they were 1/2" too far apart)...and the homeowner was an architect!
How much did it pay? *or is it yours?
It was an insurance job so enough. Customer had an oak tree fall on the house and smash the deck. We had to fix the roof, siding, and deck
Were you asked to stain/paint it?
Nope he liked the raw wood. I told him we could seal it with clear but he just kept saying it was fine. Idk dude is almost 90
Looks nice.
I would reinforce the railing posts at the box contact. Those will go first as it ages.
Painted galvanized brackets.
and seal before it turns green and black.
Yeah he didnt want it stained. Old man just wanted the same thing he had before
pff. look like shit in a year. coal dust. black. grows the green shit. powerwash. repeat.
It's beautiful. I like the deeper steps instead of narrow and high.
That's real nice. Real nice. I appreciate good woodwork. This is the kind of deck I'd like to build.
It looks like you missed the footing by a couple feet.
Do you have to get it inspected?
Looks sturdy, plus you remembered to add machicolations like a proper castle
Looks Good. Is that Pine?
Just recently did my dad's deck with virtually the same wood.
