Benzene is a carcinogen. It doesn't cause cancer otherwise everyone would have cancer. Ongoing exposure increases the risk of cancer by up to 7 fold. That is not a certainty. All it is, is more fear-mongering by the media. You're going to die!!!!

Any high levels of hydrocarbons are quite unhealthy and will give you quite the buzz before you pass out. A gas mask is needed at this level. Causing intoxication and death has nothing to do with the media claims that it causes cancer. Here's more info on benzene (emergency.cdc.gov).
