Parentheses ((())) have their own dedicated keys.

I liked the old style IBM layout better, but I wouldn't want to go back to a non chiclet design these days either.

I wish eraser mouse became standard on laptops. I hate touchpads

The touchpad is the first thing I deactivate when I get a new ThinkPad.

Some people use a different name for the rubber TrackPoint, btw: https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=clit%20mouse

Saw your post after I already posted. Yep. Plenty of co-workers calling it that.

Disabling a touch pad is the first thing I do when I turn on a new laptop. Also, EVERYONE I see that is using a touchpad (as in they NEVER use a mouse....not talking about using it because they needed to do one thing before shutting it down and didnt want to unpack the mouse then have to pack it right back up), I automatically assume that they are fucking stupid, and I have yet to be proven wrong in this regard.

Huh, most of the people I knew (in my older years) all called it the clit mouse. Yeah, they had a "dirty" sense of humor. Still funny-ish.

Still, I hate "soft touch" keyboards with a passion. My work laptop is connected to a docking station so I can use my very clicky mechanical keyboard. Without that, I might have to go full office-space on the building.

You do the mechanical keyboard thing? I’m toeing the line on that rabbit hole…. Recently started with a couple keychron before doing a custom qk75n. Now considering a werk technica because German build would be way cooler than a Chinese one, but the price is just stupid.

Also the size and way that the keys are rounded, coupled with the sound they make when you press them, give off a feeling that they will last forever.

One thing I hate about these compact keyboard layouts is they clutter them up by jamming in keys for Home, End, PgUp, PgDn, Ins, Del, and the arrow keys when you have all of those right there on the num pad. Just leave Num Lock off when you’re not typing in numbers and you have everything you need.

These laptop layouts are a mess. They would be simple and beautiful if they left out all of those duplicate keys and let the num pad do its job.
