Seagate's 30TB and 28TB versions of the Exos M and IronWolf Pro hard drives are now officially available globally through the Seagate online store and through the company’s network of approved resellers and distribution partners. The listed retail prices are $599.99 for both the Exos M 30TB and IronWolf Pro 30TB models, and $569.99 for the 28TB variants of each drive.

28TB versions are most certainly 30TB that have bad blocks and failed QC. It’s easier to add a bad blocks list in the firmware.

What program do you use to rip movies? Does it keep things like closed captioning/subtitles,menus and chapters?

MakeMKV, It is worth paying for the one-time-cost license. After that, if you want to convert to save space use HandBreak (Opensource/free). -Also- yes, it can keep all of that data if you want it. When I rip stuff like TV Series I tend to use FFMPEG to chop it up though. I have a few go-to CLI ways that seems to be able to turn a 2-4 hour thing into proper episodes which is nice but it is doing it based on the built-in metadata.

I have been using both for years. Both are multi platform and work great on *nix and windows, I have never tried them on MacOS though.

Handbreak can also use your GPU to transcode and if you have a somewhat modern GPU transcoding a video can be like 20-30 min rather than like 5+ hours.

Right now I have a synology server and am using plex to play all of my stuff on TVs in my home. Outside the home, there are synology apps that I can use to access anything on the server, on my phone.

Please did a bit of a douchebag thing and is now charging to be able to access your stuff outside your network (give access to your parents to see pics and videos of your kids, so sorry, need to pay now even though I am doing all of the storage and data transmission).

Something else got the writeup is ripping CDs to be lossless. I only figured that out after I had ripped hundreds of CDs to my NAS as MP3s, and now when I play them over my phone, the MP3s have a pause between tracks when playing an album, which is really annoying. If knowing that saves anyone from that annoyance, I would be happy.

Ultimately,,it would be nice to know more people are just hosting their own files and not paying streaming services so that those pedos lose money and then don't have the means to make their grooming material.
