For the time, OS/2 was an amazingly good OS. It shamed NT, revealing what a complete piece of shit NT was to use.

Most anything good in NT was directly stolen from OS/2.

The legacy of OS/2 lives on in Windows today. But it took them more than a decade of development to bring parity to what OS/2 originally delivered. At the time, the only thing mainstream which could compare was Unix and Next (IIRC, also ran a Unix).

My favorite OS/2 commercial was the Windows user interviews: "What do you do when you print?" "Oh, I usually do my nails and when I finish I can use the computer again."

1.8G doesn't seem too much, but rather than download the whole thing, what should we look for?

If you use or at least tinker with OS/2 get it. It has a ton of stuff in it.

I think there are mirrors of this, if the chatter on usenet is to be believed.
