Sonicwall firewall devices, at one time, used a MITM attack to perform it's duties. It would replace the incoming security cert with it's own so it could inspect the packets. It caused a lot of problems, especially if the system you were using was expecting a cert and getting something else. The python repositories had this issue, last place I worked had a sonicwall device and it made getting libraries impossible.
