I love when manufacturers install un-asked for features, I know I can trust them, because I trust the science.
So is my Express VPN still good? I heard they were bribed by some spy agency
I just read something that VPN's and fake security certificates could be used to circumvent encryption protections.
This is not suspicious at all.
Sonicwall firewall devices, at one time, used a MITM attack to perform it's duties. It would replace the incoming security cert with it's own so it could inspect the packets. It caused a lot of problems, especially if the system you were using was expecting a cert and getting something else. The python repositories had this issue, last place I worked had a sonicwall device and it made getting libraries impossible.
Yep, turns out my job is using it too. Explains why I have issues loading certain sites, and why internet sites never know my location at work.
I know some places swear by the things, but I always saw it as a lazy IT guy method. Just let someone else do it all for you.
I appreciate knowing about this intrusive service. While looking through my other active services I found one called "Alljoyn Router Service" (pronounced "all join") Found out it is the dreaded "internet of things" IoT router! Imposed without consent. I disabled it.
That's one of mickeysoft's "helpful" services. It's useless for 99% of the people.
Useless to us. But I'm guessing it's very useful for the imposers. Can't they use it to access virtually everything you have connected to it?
No clue, to be honest. I stopped caring about what windows was doing at 7.
