Thanks. I've not gotten to watch them all the way through. I remember the prediction one from before and thought some might find it interesting. There was a flurry of E3 news today of course.
I remember the golden overclockable Celerons way way back, and it was for many the first chance they had ever had at having an actual fast CPU. I had one.
I'll get to watch the new one before the days over. Maybe I'll come back and add a ew comments here.
I got a great deal in the late 90's on a K7 for $300 for a $333mhz. So seeing a chip just above that which is like a monster compared to that old one for a little more makes me think kids have no idea on what stuff used to cost just 20 yrs ago. Hell my mom bought a 25mhz computer with a 1/2 mb ram for $6K with win3.11 and that was like 25 yrs ago and it had no animation at all and midi sound. Kids have no idea how great they have it. Hell I still use the home phone but no cord. I remember not seeing more than 4 channels on tv till I was 25 so kids have no idea.
I maybe have had one of those also. I looked was Celeron 300A. Forgot the model https://arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=976093
Everyone took those magic deals much more seriously then, because it's all there was. Could easily spend 4k on a modest system, everything was so much more expensive. Blues News through HardOCP people figuring it out, talking. Hoping you got the right stepping from Newegg, or if you were lucky enough to have a Fry's around later on.
