Yeah pretty sad business. Wonder what the disparity with AMD would have been really 3-5 years ago if they had addressed all of this properly in hardware.

Good point. Most people ignore that AMD had better performance (though their Achilles heel is consumption and heat).
I'm happy to see that they now are gaining for confidence and market share with their Ryzen series.
