I need a good recommendation to push 8 monitors. For about 7 years(?) I've been pushing 2xHD7990s with 4xDisplayPort and 1xHDMI each, theoretically I can push 9 with 'em and I've proven it

the new RX series AMD are beasts, especially on Linux. look into em.

Supposedly, AMD works better using AMD, but I don't think it makes an appreciable difference, no. I'm on an Intel/AMD crossover right now. Granted, the processor is from 2011, but I haven't had any compatibility issues, and the bottleneck for my games is the GPU and not the processor, so the CPU is using the GPU well.
