Since Fauci was funding the "facility" it is more likely that Fauci was funding the "experiment"
BTW: What is USA doing in China, in a biolab ? there is no more space in USA for a biolab ?
The scientific papers produced in Wuhan explicit mention the NIAID and USAID funding. The Pentagon funding though the "private" EcoHealth Alliance is a little more hidden.
In the US, they felt all too closely watched. So the staged a "security incident" at Ft Detrick (leaving a door open), which led to a temporary closing of the facility and a stop in the tracking of the "select agents", so they could move them to Wuhan (and other labs around the world).
