Carl Marx himself was of a privileged class. Your average Starbucks socialist probably doesn't put much thought into the practical ramifications of their ideology. Maybe it starts as a form of teenage rebellion. As long as their ideology is rejected by society at large they don't have to outgrow it. It gives them an excuse to complain and act like they're more enlightened than everyone else in the capitalist society that they rely on.

Kind of like people who call themselves vegetarian but still eat fish and chicken that was slaughtered by others.

I think teenage rebellion could account for some, but I think the vast majority of commies are commies because they simply do not want to improve themselves or excel at anything. They just want everyone else to be forcibly brought down to their level so they do not have to compete.

Any rich person advocating for these types of government is either evil or retarded. The evil ones know they can use their wealth to escape before the slaughtering begins. The retarded ones just think that they will get a murder pass because they were totally on the side of the poor.
