Is it any shocker at all that a bunch of "off the land" type hippies would have no fucking clue on how to live properly off the land and not to ruin it?

From the post:

>A California commune filled with 'dirty hippies' is closing down after losing a 25-year battle with its local government. The so-called ‘Yee Haw’ commune is a 12-acre makeshift settlement in Trinidad, California, a remote seaside town with a population of about 300 residents. Its supporters said the commune’s longtime owner Charles Garth provided a makeshift option to combat Trinidad’s steep housing costs. About ten people currently live at the commune. Critics said Yee Haw posed a biohazard because of a lack of fire and carbon dioxide detectors, electrical hazards, wood stoves without flues and unsafe structures. They slammed Garth as irresponsible and claimed he had 25 years to improve the settlement’s conditions.

I think its fairly common for county housing code to require running (potable) water and proper electrical wiring for a house to be considered liveable.

You can't just have extension cords running everywhere and the lack of plumbing is a sanitation issue. They were given 25 years to fix the living situation but it sounds like they were happy to keep living like bums.

I do have my doubts that the gov would have ultimately allowed them to continue occupying the land regardless though. I'm sure there are numerous jews vying for rights to it to build unaffordable homes and rental properties.
