Tbh, it's actually the better approach.

You can't just say "don't kill yourself, it's not worth it" to someone you know nothing about, maybe there are reasons for them doing this that are far more valid than you could imagine, it's somewhat insensitive to just assume that they are doing this for some reason that isn't "worth it".

If you have the time to listen to them, you could hear them out and if you still think that ending their lives in that situation would be unwise, you could then propose alternatives that could improve their circumstances, or at least make then more bearable.

But of you don't have the time, it might be best to just focus on making it to your destination on time.

Great point. It can be summed up, if you ask me, but it's still a good point. Worry about yourself. If you have time to worry about someone else, do that. But, ultimately, worry about yourself.

Once upon a time, I put in a meaningful amount of effort to help someone and dissuade them from suicide. Later, I realized the world would've been a better place without them. @paradoxical003
