>An aircraft involved in fighting the Gold Mountain fire near Ouray crashed into Silver Jack Reservoir in southwestern Gunnison County on Sunday evening, officials said. The body of the pilot, believed to have been the only person on board, was recovered from the reservoir later Sunday night by the Montrose County Sheriff’s Office dive team, the Gunnison County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. Sheriff’s officials said the body will be taken to the Gunnison County Coroner’s Office and that no further information will be released until the pilot’s next-of-kin have been notified. The Gunnison Regional Communications Center received a call at 5:17 p.m. Sunday reporting an aircraft had gone down in the reservoir northeast of Ouray, sheriff’s officials said. The type of aircraft was not identified, but officials said they had confirmed it was involved in firefighting operations at the Gold Mountain fire.
