>Officials from Colorado Parks and Wildlife are encouraging everyone with a valid Colorado fishing license to come and catch fish at Nee Noshe Reservoir in Kiowa County. Monday marks the start of an emergency fish salvage due to the reservoir drying up. CPW says they're making the move due to the ongoing drought and reduced reservoir operations. G-grandpa Duck homesteaded a cattle ranch in Kiowa County just over 100 years ago. To read family letters and historical accounts of the area, it was a lush garden spot - dry land farming of alfalfa was commonplace. Even up to the 1970s, the land was fairly productive - discounting the dust bowl years.

Drive through the region today, and it is more akin to a desert than dry savanna or plains. Not many cattle being pastured there now, but antelope still thrive.
