From the post:

>Xcel Energy customers have faced the dilemma of accepting a smart meter they do not want or having their power shut off. Aaron Duran, an Xcel customer in unincorporated Adams County, said he had opted out of having a smart meter installed at his home when a worker came to his door in 2022. Last week, a utility worker came by to install a smart meter. “Unfortunately, letters have been sent out. If we can’t get to that meter today, you guys risk losing power,” the utility worker said in the visit, recorded on a doorbell camera. Duran said he called Xcel and a customer service agent confirmed he had opted out in person.
