>A Denver man recovering from a gunshot wound says he no longer feels safe after the person police say shot him posted bond just days after the attack.
Nico Francis was shot in the neck Friday night near 18th and Stout streets in downtown Denver. Police said officers responded to the scene and were able to locate the suspect, identified in court documents as Anthony Apodaca, within minutes.
Court records suggest the suspect posted bond before the the victim was even released from the hospital.
“I don’t feel safe and it’s adding a lot to my anxiety,” Francis said. “I don’t know that I can feel safe until there is accountability.”
Francis said the shooting happened while he was riding a scooter to meet friends. He noticed a white SUV with a passenger yelling at people along the sidewalk. He said the man then turned his attention toward him, asking if he had a problem and pulling out a gun before driving away. A short time later, Francis said he encountered the same SUV again at a stoplight. Francis told 9NEWS he did not know this person and did not provoke him.
