After passing runaway truck ramp.

Any wagers on his ability to speak/read English, his DEI status, or the state that issued him his CDL?

Could go either way. It's a tough pass, and a minor mechanical error can mushroom into a crash like this.

The initial investigation revealed that the semitrailer was speeding, with smoke coming from the brakes and the driver failed to take the runaway truck ramp about 1.5 miles from the scene of the crash.

Seems like a poor choice - maybe no habla ingles? The warning signs on the pass are huge - kind of hard to miss.

Minor mechanic issues on trucks become huge issues because pakis don't maintain their rigs. Going down a steep grade with such an issue, having no experience with air brakes and gearing down, and of course the inability to read signs all makes these dumb pakis ticking time bombs on our roads. Thankfully it didn't kill innocent Americans THIS time.

The most important questions concerning this story: was there a hole in the floor of the sleeper cab, and was the driver wearing flip-flops?

Wolf Creek is not to be fucked with. But a 23 yr old can’t likely pull Vail Pass on i70 much less something like monarch.

But wolf creek ain’t fun. Depending on where he was headed he’d never make it anyway. If he had to pull Slumgullion he’d have been fucked. I didn’t like it in the 80’s, 90’s or this year. Not much has changed. And my rig was just an 18ft micro that the 1ton don’t know was there. Just Jake braked it but still it wasn’t fun.
