Yes, due to crime. Due to a LOT of crime.
If you ever fly out of DIA never park there. Get a shuttle, hire a car.. Whatever. Its actually the same cost or cheaper than parking there anyway so you don't have to drive and have your shit stolen and you don't spend more.
That's your pro-tip if you ever visit the shit-hole that is the Denver Metro.

>Denver International Airport (DIA) is upgrading its parking lot security systems, installing 40 new high-resolution cameras in the West Economy Lot.
Crews began installing the cameras Friday, with work expected to continue through October. The project is part of an effort to improve surveillance at one of the busiest airports in the country. Signs have been posted in the West Economy Lot to notify drivers of restricted parking areas during the installation period.
The airports old cameras system were 10 to 15 years old. DIA initially had 10 cameras at the airport that directly focused on the parking lots, plus additional cameras around the airport to get views of the parking garage and lots.
