The cycle started with the emergence of a female firefly born and raised under human care. She mated with wild-collected male fireflies and laid viable eggs. Then, on July 19, one of the eggs hatched into a larva, confirming the entire lifecycle: egg, larva, pupa, adult and repeating back to egg.
