>Every Fourth of July, 911 call centers get flooded with complaints about illegal fireworks.
Last year, between July 3 and July 5, Wheat Ridge police received 103 calls regarding illegal fireworks. In 2023, they had 90 calls. This year, the department is preparing for another busy Fourth of July holiday by overstaffing and using drones as a supplemental enforcement tool.
