I am only ok with this if they ban all junk food from the SNAP program. Otherwise this is just giving them an extra $60 to buy junk food AFTER they buy fresh fruits/veg. Ideally this should only be able to be used at a local farm stand or farmers market as well so it directly helps local farmers/ranchers as well as providing healthy food for those in need.

Remember, programs like SNAP are supposed to be temporary when you need some help. You are not supposed to just live on these programs.

From the post:

>Coloradans who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits have the opportunity to be reimbursed up to $60 a month when purchasing qualifying fruits and vegetables, according to a press release from the Colorado Department of Human Services. The Colorado SNAP Produce Bonus program provides an immediate credit for the fruits and vegetables from participating locations to the shopper’s EBT card. The program stems from a collaboration with Nourish Colorado, which co-piloted the electronic healthy incentive program in an effort to make healthy food more affordable for families. Since the launch of the program, the redemption rate for the bonus has been more than 99%, according to the release.
