As much as we’d like to blame the flat landers for being idiots, we’re seeing more and more Coloradoans driving like idiots. They’re preoccupied and stressed out, most have been jabbed and spend their days in a zombie trance.

Defensive driving used to be a good strategy, now it is essential if you want to remain alive.

We’ve had unseasonably warm weather after a winter with feet of snow falling (typical winter). The roads are clear of snow, but the snow on the roadsides is melting and it seeps into the road, nights are cold so the water freezes. The Rockies are steep and rocky, which means our roads are wind-y, either to allow a lesser grade when climbing, or to avoid a solid rock mountain in the way. Ice on a curve at 60 MPH means you’ll go straight when the road beneath you curves, sending you into an icy snowbank or oncoming traffic.

Just slow down when you can’t see beyond the curve ahead, you don’t need to brake, just let off the gas. And be aware of your surroundings.

I don’t know what to do about the zombies, I just keep my eyes peeled and anticipate their antics.
