Are you fucking kidding me? The snow is not even sticking on the sidewalks. This is because of the morons from CA moving to CO. Get fucking over it. It snows, Learn to drive. Better yet, move back to the shithole you came from. you are not welcome.

Fucking national guard for a "severe" (minor) winter storm? God damn you people are fucking weak these days.

From the post:

>On Thursday, Gov. Jared Polis verbally declared a disaster emergency due to an incoming winter storm that is projected to drop feet of snow over the Eastern Plains and upward of a foot of snow in metro Denver. In the order, Polis also authorized unarmed Colorado National Guard members to provide winter storm response support. The declaration activates Colorado’s State Emergency Operation Center and the State Emergency Operations Plan, in addition to directing the Office of Emergency Management to take “all necessary and appropriate State actions to assist the affected jurisdictions.”

...Fucking why? I shoveled earlier, and while we definetly had about 3 inches last night, the cement had an inch or less. Yes, they say we're getting a foot tonight, but this isn't bad at all. That May snow we had 2 years ago was way worse.

Yeah, they also have closed schools for at least 2 (now 3?) days in a row now. Why is everyone so fucking weak and pathetic now? I am not even that old but I can say "I walked to school over a mile in food deep snow because the car wouldn't start".

My brother and I would walk a mile to school in our onesie snowsuits in foot deep or deeper snow because our mom’s car couldn’t make it out of the neighborhood. He had to break trail for me because I was little. This was normal and all the kids showed up to school on snowy days. It’s Colorado for fucks’ sake, you expect snow. Subzero weather? That’s what snowsuits, hats, gloves, scarves and snow boots are for. Humans can go outside in all kinds of weather with proper gear.

3 days, now, in my area at least. D11, 12, 8, and 3 have been closed since Wednesday. I also know all of the schools are equipped with either small tractors or Kubota's with a plow. They also have blowers for powdery snow. They also are not responsible for plowing the driveway and parking lots: there's an entirely separate crew that does those. On average, even with a BAD snow, it takes an hour to prepare for students.

Don't ask how I know all this.

Everything is fine until you get south of Walsenburg or East towards 70 in the flats.

The flats are just an issue with drifting snow and the inability to keep up as it covers the highway making it impossible to navigate..

Down by the NM border there is 3-4' of snow that dropped in 48hrs. I spent the entire day plowing and it just kept building up. It's still going out there..

There is no need for the guard here imo. The main issue is most roads aren't even able to be plowed. We're moving the shit with heavy equipment. I'd assume the assistance is related to snow removal.

There isn't a lot of places for that much snow to go after a while. Smaller streets have to have it removed with dump trucks and loaders because there isn't really anywhere else to stack it anymore.

Yeah, I get that depending on the area. I'm just from somewhere that snow is just a fact of life and you deal with it. I feel like so many commiefornians have moved to CO that they see more than 2" of snow and its the end of the world.

Yea, I get it, our family says the same thing all the time.

The last snow I can remember like this for our area was in 2008. Sometimes all you can do is say fuck it and call it a day or three. Im not coming off this mountain for a minute and that's fine by me.
