Nope, fuck you. Stop stealing from people to give to other people. You are just going to cause prices to go up AGAIN with a stupid move like this which will eventually lead you to want to increase taxes AGAIN. Stop just trying to "throw money" at the problem, start fixing the actual causes to the problems... Including auditing and shutting down these orgs that are profiting from things like the affordable housing programs.

From the post:

>Denver city leaders plan to ask voters in November to increase the sales tax rate to pay for more affordable housing projects and help Mayor Mike Johnston meet his housing development goals. Johnston unveiled the proposed new tax — which would add 0.5% atop the Denver’s current effective 8.81% sales tax rate — during a news conference Monday morning on the steps of the City and County Building. The Denver Post reported in early June that his administration was considering a new tax to fuel the city’s affordable housing efforts amid surges in home prices and rents that have made Denver unaffordable for many workers.

The Soviet Union provided housing for their citizens. It was crappy, unsafe, and shared too many people in a single apartment. Don’t let the government get in the business of housing people, too much grift and waste, then the conditions become awful after everyone relies on that sweet, sweet, free housing.

Slippery Slope, and only misery ahead.

That was tried with the blacks in the "projects" it turned into the most violent, unsafe and crime ridden part of any city that had a "project". Most of them were finally torn down in the early 2000's. It still pushed the crime into the nearby areas but just look at most of china where people "own nothing". Its all falling apart. people don't have a sense of ownership and therefor don't care to maintain it.
