This is a sad story. There was a gunman in Arvada - (Denver Metro) in the small downtown area. This guy immediately rushed into action to take him out after he already shot a police officer. He took down the gunman. Police arriving on the scene thought he was the shooter and took him down.

From the post: "Kathleen Boleyn filed the lawsuit in June 2022, a year after the midday shootings in the main square of Olde Town Arvada, a historic shopping and entertainment area about 7 miles (10 kilometers) northwest of downtown Denver.

Boleyn said her son, Johnny Hurley, ran toward danger and shot the gunman, Ronald Troyke, who had just fatally shot Officer Gordon Beesley. An investigation found Troyke, who died after Hurley shot him, was intent on killing as many officers as he could that day."

as long as there is "go away" money, these situations will never be properly addressed.

You may be glowing.. But you are not wrong.

Even that said, you were still not wrong.

Good guy with a gun got killed by police after he took out a guy specifically trying to kill as many police as possible. The police only have to pay a fine for their lack of training. I know that they did what they did in the moment and maybe they thought they were doing the right thing but in the end.. Inadequate training lead to the death of a GGWAG. It is the price that every "Good Guy with a gun" accepts as possible but they still do what is right.

This is a sad story.

This is criminal negligence. The bar for police is higher than for citizens. Cops don't get to shoot people just because they were scared because they volunteered to be there. They can only shoot people who are behaving in an active threatening way. e.g. Erratic negro, failing to comply, leveling a weapon etc.

This cop never said a word, didn't identify himself, never gave the guy a chance to comply, and shot a man who never even saw him.
