It sounds like the owner was mixed up in a cartel or organized crime. It's almost always a friend of family, but they should have figured that out by now if it were the case. I'm going with organized crime or a random shitskin psychopath passing through.

Yeah, it kind of feels cartel or gang related... With "no one" having any info and there not being working cameras in the place despite the location and crime? That's a bit of a red flag on it's own.

The date line episodes from that area have been niggers as the perp, so that is my guess.
