At the same time, the state has passed a law to forbid "anti-growth" laws. Basically what it means is that Denver costs too much to live in. The Denver Metro cities don't want to become high-density shit-holes to supply low-cost labor to the city of Denver so they create growth-limiting laws. This causes the metro cities to cost as much or more than Denver to live in. There is no real win here for anyone. High-density living (at least how it is done in the US) is cancer. On Monday, city council members passed an emergency ordinance that will limit new housing and residential units from being built. Members approved the measure by an 8-3 vote. The city’s growth plan comes as a new state law, HB23-1255, forbids cities from enforcing anti-growth policies. The law was signed by Gov. Jared Polis in early June.
