You don't say. No one want's to go downtown anymore and overdose deaths are a daily thing that the news wont even report on now. People are attacked by strung out junkies on a regular basis. The public transit system is a complete mess and people keep stealing the copper wiring so the light rail shuts down for weeks of repairs.

All this will serve to do is to burn a lot of money without any real results. Just like in LA, SF, Etc...

From the post: "Less than 24 hours after being sworn in, new Denver Mayor Mike Johnston said he was declaring an emergency to combat growing homelessness in the city. Johnston said the goal of the emergency declaration is to get 1,000 people access to housing by the end of the year. The declaration will make it easier to mobilize city resources to achieve his goals, Johnston said. It will not only give the city access to more resources at the state and potentially federal levels but also bring city agencies together to focus on the issue. He focused on what it would mean for creating more temporary housing to get people off the streets."

Every place that I read about that does this fails. They are treating the symptom not the cause.

Getting people off of drugs and putting them back to work is what gets rid of the homeless problem. Not giving them housing. I watched a mini-docu on the homeless problem in LA. The homeless camps are taken over by gangs and so are the housing units. The homeless people are forced out of their "room" for the day for the dealers / trafficker's to work out of them then they let them use it to sleep at night. The government is literally paying for gangs to deal drugs and engage in sex trafficking.

It's a grift. The government doesn't give a shit about the homeless. They have no political power.

The government bureaucrats give sweetheart deals to contractors to build and maintain the housing. The bureaucrats get kickbacks in return, often having friends an family compensated via equity ownership or other money laundering. The friends and family then compensate the bureaucrat separately so there is no money trail between the contractor and bureaucrat. That's what it's about. It's corruption.

The thing to do about druggie homelessness is what Giuliani did in NYC back when he gentrified it. You bus them the fuck out and step up law enforcement. This is positive for the homeless too, because their supply of drugs is cut off.

Very true. Also, none of these organizations to help the homeless or "end homelessness" would exist.. If they actually did their job. No more grant money, no more millions of $$$ in donations so someone can get a tax write-off and virtue-signal.

That's why it costs over 80k/yr to "house" a single homeless person... Yet, some how.. People even in shitty and expensive blue cities can get by making 45k/yr.
