Stop giving kids participation trophies. Kids didn't ask for them, and most of them don't want one.

I was born in the 90's. When I was little and doing sports or whatnot, sometimes I would be given a participation trophy. I would act happy to receive one to make the adults happy but all it really felt like is I had a clutter to keep track of that immortalized my failure to be the best at something.

Don't blame children for wanting, getting or having participation trophies. It is not the child's fault for receiving one. If a child can force someone to give them a participation trophy, the giver is spineless. Money would be better spent on something useful like cooler trophies for actual winners or almost anything else.

It's kind of shitty for the kids that do accomplish something too. My son placed in an event and was told he was going to get a ribbon for it. Turned everyone got a ribbon. Was lame, he was disappointed.
