I'm sure wearing a duck costume in 96 degree heat is awful but it's better than world war 3. Even if they institute a draft, prison is better than world war 3. Money isn't a good enough motivator because it's not likely you'll be around to spend it and post world war 3 it will be worthless anyway.

The only way you'll get people to fight in world war 3 is giving them something to believe in. Back in the cold war people still believed in America and the communists still believed in communism. They could have gotten millions to fight back then.

Now America and most other nations are just economic zones or tax farms. People don't believe in their nations, they simply live in them. Living is a good enough reason to pay your taxes and rent. It's not a good enough reason to die.
