The future is stupid. I had a coworker that had a minor fender bender while driving his Tesla (some idiot backed into him). What should have at most be like 1k in body/paint work turned into 17k in damages.

it's that expensive because they can't risk getting sued if the battery just decides to explode for whatever reason so all the repairs must be all encompassing.
