Psych nurse here

One of my patients, “Katie”, who is a “M to F” weirdo reported me for misgendering him. I’m talking bald headed dude, full beard, deep man voice. He ended up getting real aggressive with the female staff and I had to shoot him up with some good night juice. I told him that that wasn’t very ladylike. Anyway, I’m not allowed to be on the unit he’s on until he is discharged.

I can’t imagine having to deal with that. I almost worked in health care but fat people ruined it for me. This one guy was like 800 lbs and laughed bc I couldn’t figure out how to get him out of a door smaller than him. The same ones end up in the hospital repeatedly bc they won’t change their diets. And they stink. They can’t even move on their own cuz of food then expect healthcare workers to break their own backs and to touch their disgusting fat bodies. Nooo thanks. You were willing to put up with that nonsense and now they come at you with troons. They don’t deserve you.

Make it a point to "misgender" every lunatic tranny that crosses your path and forces you to address them. Make sure to train in self defense and carry protection. They are mentally ill and often violent.

Psych nursing is fascinating in some ways but in more ways it's potentially dangerous. I know several retired/disabled psych rn's; each one physically assaulted in one way or another, two of them permanently disabled.

I will say however, watching a patient come out of psychosis and being restored to sanity (whatever that is) with therapy is really rewarding.

You want a cherry healthcare job? Go into occupational therapy.

My doc is an ex psych doc. I asked him if he had good stories and he said he has fantastic ones and one of these days if I'm in on a slow day he will tell me some. He left psych and went family med. He took over another guy's office and was shocked at how little work he did. He referred everyone out for everything. He chose family med so he could do a little of this and a little of that. But the previous guy didn't even have stuff for sutures on hand.

Shame on you as a new grad rn. if you think it's funny to challenge a psych patient you're going to end up getting a: pounded by a patient with the strength of a gorilla and or b: fired.

You are there to provide a therapeutic mileu and support patients that are in crisis for one reason or another, not to make fun of them and abuse them with "shots of good night juice". You got your ass shit-canned already by not being allowed on the unit.

You have clearly never worked in psych so shut your ass up. I’ve been in the field for years, but just became a nurse. When a patient gets physically aggressive with staff, it is protocol to sedate/seclude them. Also, it is natural for any human being to refer to an individual with a full beard and deep voice as male. It was never done on purpose until I said “that wasn’t very ladylike”. Please stay in your lane

Still, you got your ass kicked off the unit for creating chaos with a patient. Sounds to me like you're the one that needs to "stay in your lane".
