Do you think periods are disgusting? Back in school, a guy in my class pulled out a sanitary napkin from a friend's bag. He stood on the desk holding it high up for everyone to see. He went on shouting “xxx is on her periods!! xxx is on her periods” and threw it on someone.

Everyone went from yewww to yuckk, running away as if it was an asteroid.

When we girls felt deeply hurt and embarrassed, the girl who was on her periods spoke loud and clear.

Yes I am on my periods. So was your mother and so is your sister. If not for it, you wouldn't be here. If you have a problem with it, then you probably are mentally sick. Get yourself checked.

The class learnt a lesson. It’s not the period that's disgusting, but the person who feels that way.

Speaking of periods, quite some years back one of my friends and his wife adopted a little girl from Romania. She was a victim of Nicolae Ceausescu’s belief that population growth would lead the country into prosperity. His ban on abortions and contraceptives led to a rise in births. Many parents because of financial stress and the country’s collapse brought their children to orphanages. Horrible conditions existed for these children, especially new borns. Many were brain damaged from poor nutrition and lack of care. Little Ana was one of these children. She was a happy lil’ shit, but extremely autistic and destined to be a perpetual ten year old more or less. Around the time of puberty she became aware she would start having periods. She was so excited to have one as it meant she’d become a big girl then. So for a couple months there were times when, and it could be anywhere, church, school, store, etc., where she’d just suddenly stop in her steps, drop her pants and panties to her ankles, bend over and look up into her cooter and declare, “Nope, no period yet”. It was hilarious, she was so innocent about it you could only laugh and if’n you was behind her when she did it you certainly got an eyeful. She finally had her period one day and she’d tell everyone she did. Thankfully she felt no need to show anyone.

She was a sweet soul, graduated high school, learned to drive and was becoming more and more self sufficient. One winter night she complained of an ear ache before going to bed. When her dad got up the next morning he did not find her in her bed and she was not answering calls out for her. He called the police and eventually they found her frozen to death outside on the property. Sad. Blessed are the children.
